Dr Stephen Cox completed his cardiology training in Brisbane and spent two years in Boston, USA, at the Lahey Clinic. There he developed his interventional cardiology skills before returning to HeartCare Partners. His interests include the care and treatment of acute coronary syndrome patients, as well as structural heart disease. Dr Cox's cardiac catheterisation skills include acute infarct angioplasty and elective stenting, as well as the treatment of structural heart defects using closure devices (ie PFO/ASD/VSD and post-surgery paravalvular leaks). Recently HeartCare Partners at the Wesley commenced a percutaneous aortic valve replacement (TAVR) programme. Dr Cox is part of that programme along with other HeartCare cardiologists. He consults at the Wesley Hospital and Clayfield, and visits clinics at Kingaroy and Rockhampton. Dr Cox is a senior Visiting Medical Officer in Cardiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
