Lakshmi completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Adelaide, SA. Whilst working for a year as a dentist in Hervey Bay she passed the Primary Exam (RACDS) and subsequently headed to the UK where she worked in numerous hospitals as a Maxillofacial Senior House Officer. Here she obtained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons (England) (FDSRCS). Her interest in Maxillofacial Surgery lead her to return to university to complete her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh).
Lakshmi returned to Queensland where she completed her specialist training and received her Fellowship in a Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2011 (FRACDS OMS).
Lakshmi commenced working in Townsville as a consultant in 2012 and is currently the Director of Maxillofacial Surgery at The Townsville Hospital while also working in private practice here at TOMS.
