Dr. Tim Rutherford completed his undergraduate medical training with Honours at Monash University in 2001 and undertook his hospital residency at St Vincent’s Hospital. During his subsequent specialist dermatology training both in Melbourne and Singapore, Dr. Rutherford developed a strong interest in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.
For this reason he embarked upon a fellowship year in advanced cutaneous surgery, Mohs and laser surgery endorsed by the Australasian College of Dermatology in Perth, WA. After his 12 month fellowship Dr. Rutherford went on to work at the Dermatology Surgery and Laser Centre and then Oxford Dermatology and Day Surgery in Perth before returning to Melbourne to settle permanently.
Dr. Rutherford gained extensive experience during his dermatology training, fellowship and private practice in surgery of the skin for both skin cancers and non cancerous “cosmetic” lesions as well as treatment of other forms of sun damage.
A fellow of the Australasian College of dermatologists, Dr. Rutherford is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, Australian Medical Association and is active within the Australasian College of Dermatologists. Whilst predominately working in private practice, Dr. Rutherford teaches dermatology trainees and medical students and participates in the Medical Specialist Outreach Assistance Program to help service rural and remote Victoria. Dr. Rutherford has spoken at Australian and International Dermatology conferences.
