Studied Psychology at NSW University and completed a post-graduate qualification at what is now Curtin University in Perth. In 1980 commenced working at Morisset Hospital and gained experience in all areas over the next 6 years. During this time conducted research in the area of drug and alcohol problems, with 2 of these studies forming the basis of a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at Newcastle University. In 1986 became Team Leader at Hunter Drug Advisory Service and in 1989 the Co-ordinator of Drug and Alcohol Services for the NSW Department of Corrective Services. Between 1992-1996 lectured at Newcastle University and became Director of the Psychology Clinic within the Department of Psychology. Has conducted a private practice in Lake Macquarie area since 1993, working especially with victims of trauma.
A full member of professional bodies including Psychology Board of Australia, Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Society of Hypnosis.
