From 1998 this work and experience has taken in educational (both mainstream and adult), community and more recently corporate, environments. Eight years based in the beautiful Pilbara region of our state saw Carla working as a School Psychologist, working across mainstream primary and secondary education.  She also worked as a psychologist in mental health, and in family and adult trauma counselling and disability services. These areas have allowed her to gain a significant competence and understanding of resilience and management of stress, anxiety, mental health and wellbeing. In the metropolitan setting, further experience and work across education provided a deep understanding of how schools work, and the challenges facing parents, teachers and young people. Carla thoroughly enjoys working with young people and supporting parents with the challenges of life. A significant aspect and strength for Carla is her depth of training, expertise and associated counselling skills in the areas of loss and grief and managing the changes and impact that arise. Carla’s more recent corporate experience has also provided an opportunity to work in a more developmental arena with counselling on adjustments to the workplace and career establishment. Carla likes to use Positive Psychology as a strategy that utilises the strengths of the individual to manage life challenges. Other strategies include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness and a Solution Focused approach to addressing and managing problems. She has extensive experience of professional encounter and practice over many years and continues to enjoy the new learning and challenges of the vocation.
