Halina Selwyn-Cross is endorsed by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a clinical and a counselling psychologist. She holds a BA, BA(Hons) and MA(Psych) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the A.P.S. College of Clinical Psychology. She is registered both as a Medicare and Private Health Care service provider.
Halina has worked in a diverse range of settings. Previous clinical experience includes coordinating a multi-disciplinary team in a psychiatric hospital. Prior to this role she was in private practice as well as acting as a consultant to the South African Police Service in both a clinical and educational capacity.
Halina is currently in full-time private practice. She is experienced in the treatment of a wide range of disorders that typically present in this context including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders and trauma-related conditions. Halina has a particular interest in the treatment of eating disorders and the management of the challenges experienced in the developmental stage of adolescence. She currently acts as a consultant to numerous secondary schools.
Halina utilises an intergrated therapeutic approach, drawing on the psychodynamic, interpersonal and cognitive behavioural therapy traditions. In addition to short-term acute psychotherapy, Halina enjoys working with patients who present with complex and deep-seated concerns requiring long-term psychotherapy.
